Latest traffic management phase announced
Friday, 15/01/2016

UPDATE: We can now confirm that Old Newton Road will be closed on Thursday and Friday, 4th and 5th February, near to our site entrance.

Following this closure, Devon County Council will implement their own closure to carry out drainage works on Old Newton Road. These works will take place on Saturday, 6th February, with Sunday as a contingency.

Elsewhere, from tomorrow morning, Thursday 4th February, Torquay Road (the old A380) will reopen under temporary lights and traffic will no longer be diverted through Aller Brake Road. Work will continue at the Romany Jones junction.

Following the recent successful opening of the new South Devon Highway, Devon County Council, Torbay Council and Galliford Try, the constructors of the new dual carriageway have announced a programme of further surfacing and tie-in works on local roads.

Recommended diversions will be signed and drivers are asked to follow their instructions.

The works are expected to continue until late February and consist of several phases. As most of the traffic is now on the new dual carriageway local roads are quieter, enabling the completion of works on side roads in the area.

A temporary closure of a short section of the old A380 (Torquay Road) is already in place between the new Aller Roundabout and Kingskerswell, with local traffic being diverted through Aller or via the new South Devon Highway. This diversion is expected to remain in place until 29th January.

From Monday, 18th January a section of Aller Road will be closed from the Supa Roofing offices to the new roundabout at Hazelbank. The closure is expected to be in place until 29th January.

The new A380 off and on slips at Aller and Aller Roundabout will be closed on Saturday, 30th January and Sunday, 31st January. Traffic will be diverted along the new South Devon Highway and through Kingskerswell, Decoy or Aller.

Once these works are completed Old Newton Road will be closed between Hazel Bank Roundabout and Foredown Road. This phase is scheduled to begin on Monday, 1st February and last for seven days, and will only go ahead once the earlier works at Aller are successfully concluded.

On Monday, 8th February the Aller Link Road will be closed during the day with a local diversion in place.

Further phases of traffic management will take place from late in January and continue until late February at Edginswell and Riviera Way. These are in order to complete safety barrier and minor surfacing works and are expected to require lane closures only.

Much of this work is dependent on dry weather and may be subject to revision. For the latest news updates please refer to the project website.
